Southern Muster 2011 - Our story
Invercargill hosted what I think is the Southernmost Mustang convention in the world - and a great job they made of being Hosts.
The women were all thrilled at receiving
their own pink "goodie bags" and those lucky enough to get out & visit the shops to use the vouchers came back laden with goodies.
The Truck Museum had everyone buzzing!
I have been lucky enough to have had a guided tour on a previous visit but even then had to buy the book as it is alot to take in at once!
I was one of the extremely lucky winners of Hot Laps at Teretonga! WOW!!! What a blast - Rodgers Fastback went as fast as it sounded and what a buzz, I hope someone has a photo of me with a smile from ear to ear as I whizzed past??
- Horse didn't know which laps I was in so I think he missed it!
The decoration of the venues was brilliant and greatly admired by everyone
- well done Invercargill Mustang Club!! The standard of Mustangs was very
high. Things have certainly changed since the first Convention I attended in
1983, back then most of the cars were red and late model ones just did not
feature. This was back of the days of import licenses, carless days & petrol
rationing - just slightly after the Horse & Cart!
From our vantage point at the Trade display there were Mustangs of every
colour & year you could think of, Wayne & I decided that should we once
again get the unenviable job of Choosing Sponsor's Choice we better have a
plan in place. We each took a turn around the cars on display choosing our
top 6 that was hard enough I can tell you. We then compared notes and
narrowed down to 2 for the entrant's choice and have to say flipped a coin
for the winner. Lucky we did as we did indeed get the job! Peter McGregor's
lovely little Restomod was very deserving and a popular choice!
We had to leave Invercargill early on Monday morning- to get back home &
prepare for the North Islanders visiting on their way home so .. I had to
sneak Horse back to our room at half time because I knew when we won the
game getting him to bed would be impossible and with a 10hr drive ahead....
We had a bottle of bubbly and slept under the silver fern flag!
Thank you to all the North Islanders that took the time to call in and say
HI, Mapua is still talking about all the cars, Thank you also to everyone in
the Invercargill Club, You now know what hard work it is running a
Convention but have the satisfaction of knowing it was a great Success.
I will try and extract whatever photos Horse took that are not of his feet or
other bits best not mentioned..

NEW PRODUCT RANGE FOR 2011
NEW PRODUCT RANGE FOR 2011
In response to an increasing volume of enquiries for parts for the later model Mustangs we are now providing a service to cater for the new ponies, some of the fox body era and some Challenger & Camaro parts.
We also have access to some Cougar parts particularly where they cross over with Mustang.
This service will run with our current 2 weekly air orders coming in from the USA.
We do not have the space to hold stock for this range of vehicles on top of our already huge inventory of 64-73 Mustang parts so apart from a few small items regularly required we will bring in to order only.
Lead time will be 4 weeks at the most depending on where in our order cycle the request is made.
Scott Drake have downloadable online catalogs for the Late model Mustang, Fox body upholstery, Challenger & Camaro.
Go to http://www.drakemusclecars.com/ OR www.ScottDrake.com
We also have another exclusive supplier of the 79-2011 parts so if you don't see what you want in these catalogs please ask.
Please bear in mind also that this is airfreight so large items may not be economic to bring in - again ask as we do sea freight shipments but much less frequently.
We look forward to helping the New Generation of Ponies looking & driving great!!
